The City of Meissen (Meißen) invites you to a visit of the world-famous porcelain
factory, the castle "Albrechtsburg" and the cathedral "Dom".
We would like to present some of our region’s landmarks to you.
Dresden being Saxony's capital isn't only world-famous for being a baroque city.
Approx. 35 museums and exhibitions captivate thousands of visitors every year.
Visitor magnets are for example the "Church of our Lady" (Dresdner
Frauenkirche), the opera house "Semperoper", the "Zwinger Palace" (Zwinger)
and "Brühl's Terrace" (Brühlsche Terrasse).
In the City of Moritzburg visit the baroque hunting lodge, the game reserve and the
stud or stroll along the excellently restored street "Schloßstraße".
Go for a ride with Germany’s oldest still operating public narrow gauge railway,
“Weißeritztalbahn”, which is operating again between Freital-Hainsberg and
Dippoldiswalde after its destruction by the floods in 2002!
You should also plan a hiking tour through Saxon Switzerland with its
curious rock formations and a visit of Fortress Königstein ("Festung
Königstein") or simply relax on a historic steamboat on the river Elbe.
In the City of Freiberg you can learn about the history of ore mining or visit the
cathedral ("Dom") with its Silbermann organ or the exhibition "terra mineralia" at
Castle Freudenstein.
